About Us

A message from Charles and Sandy Parkhurst to our customers:

My professional life began in electronics in the late 1970’s.  I founded a consulting firm to design integrated circuits (chips) from schematic drawings for such clients as Intel, Motorola, Medtronic, and many others.

Wife Sandy joined us in 1987 to manage our expansion into photomask manufacturing, which was her specialty.  Photomasks were necessary in the manufacturing of chips. Ten years later, I was looking for an exit strategy - long hours in a very high-tech business, which was fast becoming obsolete, was compelling us to move on.

In 1987 I had walked into a rare book shop in Scottsdale and I was swept away.  Having come from a poor family, I had never seen a collection of fine books.  I had collected other things, but nothing brought the satisfaction of owning the first edition of a classic I had read earlier, or studied in college.  I am merely a book collector who sells books in order to commit pre-meditated buying of more books.

In 1994 we sold our assets in the electronics company, bought a motor home, and went down American roads in search of collectable books.  On the road about six weeks per year, we exhibited at book fairs in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Denver.

Our collection of books for sale consists of 2000 titles, almost exclusively first editions.

So Sandy and I thank you for visiting our on-line bookshop.  We invite you to look around – I know you’ll find something you like.
