Internally clean; bindings are chipped and worn, some hinges cracked but holding well, volume gilt numbers visible on spines. Laid into volume I is a note on Shakespeare Press letterhead, c. 1920; "Bought by American soldier to send to his home in U.S.A. and not subject to Board of Trade licence(sic)". Volume I has the preface, Mr. Pope's preface, and some account of the life, etc. of Mr. William Shakespear. Written by Mr. Rowe. Housed in a handsome open end slipcase.
