ALL wrappers are correct. The scarce Lett's Diary ad in part VIII has 6 specimen leaves, one folding, lacking the 5-fold sheet - all other Advertisers, slips and ads are present and in accord with the Hatton & Cleaver. FIRST ISSUE, with "LILE" for "LIFE" on page 3 of the Advertiser in part VIII. In part XII the rear ad "Exhibition of Industry...." (8 pages) is UNOPENED. Twenty (20) monthly parts in 19; octavo, with 40 inserted plates, including the frontis and vignette title. [i-vii]viii[ix]x-xii[xiii]xiv[xv-xvi], [1]2-624. The plates in part XVIII are browned at edges, not affecting illustrations; the plates in XIX/XX have light off-setting and foxing, all other plates are very good to fine. Tissue guards are in place. Spine expertly renewed on part I, all other spines are original. An outstanding set in every respect and with a pedigree - it is from the famed (Thomas) Hatton and Cleaver collection.
