A SPECTACULAR COPY of the first edition, with some of the early issue points; half-title, frontispiece, photo-gravure bust by Gerhardt, 366pp., 174 illustrations. Publisher's original green pictorial cloth lettered and decorated in black and gilt, spine lettered in gilt and black, peach tinted endpapers. An outstanding copy with just a trace of wear at extremities; neat owner name on ffep. Internally very fresh, with the following issue points: page [9]: "Huck Decides to Leave." is listed as part of the heading for Chapter VI (changed from "Decided"). Page [13]: "Him and another Man" properly listed as at p. 87. Page 57, line 23, "with the saw" (corrected from "with the was"). Frontispiece portrait: "Photo-Gravure" plate, with table cloth not visible; title page is conjugate. Page 143: "Col." at upper corner of plate includes the "l." Page 155: final "5" of page number in a larger font, priority not known. Page 161: signature mark "11" not present. Page 283 is conjugal. A stunning copy, housed in a beautiful full leather clamshell box, by H and H Bindery. BAL 3415.
