Four volumes in three: Numbers 5-6, July-October 1939; Number 7, April-July 1940 (Les Tres Riches Heures Du Duc De Berry); Number 8, September-November 1940. With publisher's slip tipped onto the title page of Number 8 stating: "This Issue of Verve was completed just a few days before the occupation of Paris. Extraordinary difficulties and extremely high expenses were incurred in order to bring copies to America. In spite of the greatest efforts and sacrifices, more than half of the edition has been lost. Because of these circumstances and the small number of copies which eventually reached this country, it has been necessary to establish a price of $3.50 for this issue." With original slipcase, showing wear at extremities; volumes are internally clean and bright, with no markings of any kind; wear and small loss at spine ends of numbers 7 and 8.
